JUST IN: ANOTHER NIGERIAN STUDENT ALLEGEDLY RAPED AND MURDERED

A recent report has disclosed that another female student of the Nigerian Universities has been raped and thereafter murdered in Ibadan, Oyo State.
It was reported that the girl was allegedly raped in the house where she resides and then was killed after the act. The police confirmed the murder of the girl but have denied the fact that the girl was raped as well.

According to report gathered by MYTECH, the victim was identified to be Azeezat Shomuyiwa, a postgraduate student of the University of Ibadan.
MYTECH gathered that the incident took place on Thursday, June 4, 2020, in her residence at Aba Ijefun, Akinyele Local Government Area of Ibadan. The incident is said to have been trending and going viral online through twitter and other social networks following the rampant and increase in rape cases within the country thee period.
According to reports from the people of the area, it was disclosed that the stone which was used to kill the victim was found beside her bed with blood covering her body.
Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi – Oyo State police spokesperson after much investigation and testing stated that Ms. Azeezat Shomuyiwa was truly murdered but was not raped as there was no evidence of rape.
According to statement by Mr. Olugbenga, he said, “Truly, the incident occurred, she was murdered but it was not rape. She was attacked with stone on her head and then was left to die”.
It was gathered by MYTECH that Ms Shomuyiwa’s case occurred barely 48 hours after that of Barakat Bello reported of same incident of rape and murder in the same Ibadan.
The rape case has become so rampant and of which cases are been reported on daily basis. Activists on this note have been calling on Nigeria authorities to deal more effectively with rapists through the strict enforcement of existing laws and promulgation of tougher sanctions.
